Dr. Tommy P. Smith,affectionately known by many as “TPS”, three initials which reflect the “Teacher, Preacher, Servant” he proudly represents. Dr. Smith leads with passion as Pastor of Divine Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. He is a Georgia native who moved to Florida as a teenager, where he entered the United States Air Force in 1981 and completed over 24 years of honorable service.

After retiring from active duty, Dr. Smith continued to serve in uniform as Aerospace Science Instructor, Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC), Indian River High School, and he currently serves at Western Branch High School. In this capacity, he mentors and trains high school students in communication skills, leadership development and management. Dr. Smith is “apt to TEACH”… “ready to PREACH”…and always willing to “SERVE.” Dr. Smith’s spiritual anointing and selfless attitude allow him to operate under the Savior’s Authority as Tommy Patrick Smith—TPS—Teacher Preacher Servant!  

Dr. Smith believes education is a life-long process, and he studies diligently to show himself approved unto God. He has earned educational achievements through various colleges and universities throughout his career to include Instructor Technology, Military Science, Avionics Technology, Personnel Administration, Occupational Education, Organizational Leadership and Management, along with Doctor of Strategic Leadership from Regent University.

Dr. Smith and his lovely wife, Brenda, have been bountifully blessed with one adorable daughter, Shannon (Air Force Veteran). To God be the glory Who continues to bless exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or imagine, according to the power at work within us.

As the author of his book titled, Servant Leadership: A Paradoxical Truth, Dr. Smith’s message has reached a global audience whereby he continues to Teach, Preach, Serve and Impact the World!
